What KC homeowners actually search.
Sixteen months of Search Console on my father's site say the searches are "drywall repair Lee's Summit" and "drywall repair near me", not the company name — which is why the map listing's category and the suburb pages on the website do most of the work. Lee's Summit, Independence, Blue Springs, Raytown, Grandview, Overland Park and Olathe each behave like their own small market; a listing anchored in one of them outranks a downtown address for all of them.
The seasons are predictable: HVAC and roofing spike with the first heat wave and the first hail; landscaping and pressure washing in April; drywall, painting and handyman work in the winter when furnaces dry the house out and holiday guests find the doorknob holes. The plan for each trade is set up before its season, not during it.
Local Services Ads in the metro.
Plumbing, HVAC and electrical are crowded in Kansas City's pay-per-lead auction; painting, handyman, tree service and junk removal are not. In every category the rank is set by response rate, reviews and proximity, so a Lee's Summit or Olathe shop that answers the phone beats a downtown franchise for its own suburbs. My father's account ran at $36.77–$46.66 per charged lead through spring and summer 2026 — a repair trade, side-door category, real billing. What a lead costs by trade →
Three parts, one machine.
- Local Services Ads — screening, the exact category, job types trimmed to the work you want, the credit ledger watched weekly.
- Google Business Profile — the map spot that rings: category, service areas, photos of the work, a review habit.
- A website that ranks — a page per money job and per suburb, real price ranges, a form and a phone number that gets answered.
All three ran for real at a Lee's Summit company. The receipts, month by month →
